Before November’s midterms, voters could meet a few volunteer heroes doing good work on election day itself, through CNN’s Hero of the Year program. The network announced its selection for this year, along with a video clip, on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day. Here are the chosen ones:
Aida says, “The most impactful part of [the program] was that it changed my life, and I’ve gone on to earn my MBA, and become a community outreach coach and volunteer my time with a civil rights organization.”
Mango, a retired public school teacher who started teaching after Hurricane Sandy devastated a section of her town, has since transformed her space into a center for disadvantaged teens and middle-aged adults.
Watch the video to find out how you can vote for each of these great people here. Voting ends at 10 p.m. ET on May 8, and the award winners will be announced at the 2019 CNN Heroes Gala on May 16.
